@rushtropicalwx Actually it has happened 3 times we have gone from La Nina to strong El Nino in the same year. 1957- La Nina of 1954-1957 faded and a strong El Nino developed in the fall. 1965- La Nina of Spring 64 to winter 65 faded Strong El Nino developed by Summer. Then 2023.

This season's Hurricane chatter will be focused around El Nino. A possible strong El Nino coming too. Usually less named systems during these years because of higher wind shear. But still can have landfalls and impacts. A look at recent past stronger El Nino years here. Water temp anomalies on left. Storms tracks those years right. Water temps this year expected 'above normal', like 2023. This could offset the lower expected numbers... some. You can see the trend these years were less storms west of 60°. Not zero. Just not a lot. There have been other El Nino years not as strong as these. 2004/2018 stand out. You just never know. Last year was expected to be above average with La Nina conditions. It wasn't as far as numbers, 13, but still had 3 CAT 5s and 1 CAT 4. Just nothing reached the US, so yes it was slow (and a bust) to most. Summer cool fronts controlled steering and turned everything before CONUS. Something that wasn't predicted. This also started the southeast droughts. Always be ready. Aware. Nothing ever is concrete with the tropics. spaghettimodels.com

@nut_history Keith Hernandez Curt Schilling- A player should be judged by their stats and if they played the game clean, not their politics. Jim Edmonds if Andruw Jones is in there Edmonds needs to be there as well. Carlos Delgado- has stats similar to Bagwell not a PED user.

@nut_history Every pitcher even the great ones such as Johnson, Maddux, Martinez, and others have had a bad game. It is part of being a pitcher in the major leagues.

@nut_history Originally as a Cardinals fan I was team McGwire. However, when it came out that both Sosa and McGwire were proven steroid users I was like their records and stats should be erased due to them juicing.

@FloridaTropics1 Below average seasons that had at least 1 destructive storm in the Atlantic Basin. 2015- Erika (Dominica) and Joaquin (Bahamas) 1994- Gordon (Haiti) 1992- Andrew (USA) 1991- Bob (USA) 1983- Alicia (USA) 1977- Anita (Mexico) 1972- Agnes (USA) 1965- Betsy (USA) 1960-Donna (USA)

@FloridaTropics1 A good example of it only taking 1 storm to make it a bad year is 1983. While La Nina did develop in 1983 it was not until November when the hurricane season was almost done. The season was dominated by El Nino and only 4 storms formed. Alicia caused $3 Billion in costs to Texas.

Rickey Henderson is on 1B and he’s looking to run. You can have any Catcher of any era try and gun him down. Who gets the nod?

@OleTimeHardball I was a fan of his when he was with the Cards. Then it came out he had used roids his entire career. It pains me to say this but NO. Proven steroid users should not be in the HOF. In fact, their stats should be erased.

@OleTimeHardball Erid Davis seemed to be on track for the hall of fame. But injuries derailed his career and chances at the HOF. He was fun to watch while a member of the Reds he was known as Eric the Red.

@BBGreatMoments End of an era in the St Louis Cardinals. The team has not been the same since they retired. Adam Wainwright and Molina were part of 2 World Series teams 2006 and 2011. They also won the NL pennant in 2013. Pujols was part of the 04 Pennant team, 2006, and 2011 WS teams.

Opening day is here for the Reds. The Reds look to have the most talented roster in the NL Central. I expect them to be contenders. However, having Hunter Greene out until June could be an obstacle. #Reds

Opening day is here. The Cardinals roster looks different this year as its a full rebuild this year. The pitching looks good, but the offense could struggle. I think this team shows live in the second half. #STLCards #Cardinals #MLB

@WeathermanAAA_ The 2 years I'm looking at as possible analog years are 2006 and 2015. 2006 the weak La Nina of 2005 to early 06 faded and rapidly changed into El Nino. That season was slightly below average (at that time) 10-5-2 2015 very strong El Nino below average season 11-4-2

The state of the Atlantic for the upcoming 2026 hurricane season is not great from an activity perspective. Rather large El Niño event loading + the current classic -AMO look is setting the stage for a fairly quiet season this year relative to previous.

@WeathermanAAA_ From 2016-2025 the Atlantic has had 10 seasons that were average to above average. I'm leaning toward a below average season. While in 2023 we had a hefty El Nino Atlantic water temps were way above average. This year the ensembles are trending drier and not as warm water temps.

Finally, the Cardinals are in a full rebuild. I think this team finishes 74-88 but makes noise in the second half. The pitching should be good, but the offense does not stand out to me. #Cardinals
