It's days like today that make me glad we made our own engine for Puppetmaster. Sure, it took almost 4 years, and C has its own difficulties, but we have full control of our code and never have to worry about licensing issues. Glad to be an independent indie. #IndieDevs

Based on feedback on the other videos, we made another that showcased a lot more combat to show how different this game is. Platform-fighter combat is a good mix with a metroidvania, especially when the enemies start comboing you! #indiegame #gamedev #Kickstarter #Puppetmaster

This was one of the earliest features in the game engine. I always wondered why a game like Hollow Knight, with such beautiful background areas, wouldn't occasionally pull the camera back to show the depth of the design. So, it was one of the first things I made for Puppetmaster.

In Puppetmaster, one of the unlockable mechanics is Combat Augments, which allow you to customize your attacks. In this video I find an Augment that lets me switch my forward aerial attack to a stronger downward slam, if I prefer. #metroidvania #indiegame #gamedev

@_gabrielgames_ Also, the demo alone took 3 years to make, not entirely because I had to learn C along the way and reprogram the various gameplay systems a dozen times. :)

#Puppetmaster was programmed from scratch in C, giving us a huge amount of control over the various gameplay systems. Also, we made a complex multithreaded image-decompression system that makes levels load almost instantly. #screenshotsaturday #indiegame #metroidvania

This is one of the first entirely unique mechanics I came up with for Puppetmaster. No more annoying long walks back to bosses!... provided you have spaced out your Totems enough to still have one in your inventory.

In #Puppetmaster, there's no bonfires or benches. Instead, you can place down a Totem to save your game and set your respawn point *wherever* you want... as long as you have enough collected. You can return to an old one at any time, too. #metroidvania #indiegame #gamedev
