As of 2 April 2026, Cyprus has introduced its new FDI screening framework - and it is now in force.
With FDI Law 194(I)/2025 and the latest guidance from the Ministry of Finance, certain foreign investments may require prior approval before they can proceed.
The new regime focuses on:
-investments by non-EU investors
-acquisitions of 25%+ or decisive influence
-transactions in sectors of strategic importance
This marks an important development for deal structuring and transaction timelines in Cyprus.
