Do PR for @UniBirmingham. Resting grumpy face. Mostly tweeting about riding bikes, research, or the church. Views my own.

PSA: I've been re-listening to my fav band ever during 2020, Led Zeppelin, and I keep noticing or rehearing moments in their songs that blow me away even though I've listened to them 100s of times. In honour, I'll be tweeting #ledzepmoments in this thread from time to time.

@Gilesyb I tell you what - if LDs miraculously got into power, I'm going to go into brick making. They are proposing an extra 750m bricks each year.

Amazing how often this issue is overlooked. I swear I know people who talk as if you just change planning laws and then Pop! Out of nowhere appear thousands of housebuilding elves....

Tragic loss of life - maybe @100Climbs could share for awareness and to warn people to avoid Carlton Bank?

On the day that the Govt plunges their hands deeper into the pockets of legislation that appeals to their base, we also read that a 43-year old husband and IT consultant was deliberately pushed off his bike at 25mph by a passenger of a BMW driver. 🤷‍♂️ bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

I have no problems with a law on death by dangerous cycling – everyone must obey the rules of the road. But in 2022, 1760+ people were killed on UK roads – 3 involved someone being hit by a bike. What’s the gov plan for stopping 5 people being killed a day by motor vehicles?

@kayaburgess 👀 Also, you note 'secretive' - in what way do you think it's more secretive than say an interview panel for a senior job elsewhere? The CNC members are voted for by Synod and publicly available; and candidates are effectively headhunted as per other sectors.

Interesting. The secretive committee that chooses new bishops has not been able to reach an agreement on a new Bishop of Carlisle even after interviews A new selection process will have to start, but not until spring of 2025, the Archbishop of York says:

@ClareWilsonMed Quite - and raises the ethical implication of whether we really should know how epigenetically old our organs are. Do you *really* want to know how much your teens and 20s have mucked you up before starting to exercise more and eat better?

@tpmayo I mean, it's just another way of saying your heart is fine but your kidneys are not in quite as good condition as they should be for someone your age, innit?

Call me a cynic but I believe all my organs are ageing at a rate of 1 year/year, barring disruptions in the space-time continuum bbc.co.uk/news/health-67…

@davearthur I get the feeling that PC gamers get pretty excised by the cost of new components when they're released.

I am so ridiculously proud of my son. After more than a year of growing his hair out, today he has had it all cut off to raise money for @CR_UK. He’s still raising money to help find new and better ways to support people who have cancer so please donate: justgiving.com/page/tim-mayo-…

APPG for Young Carers and Young Adult Carers
This evening's @ITVTonight programme with @ronkephillips was about young carers. It revealed some initial findings from our inquiry - the first of its kind. Our inquiry has found how some young carers are waiting over 10 years to be identified and a postcode lottery of support.
