Very proud of our members who stayed laser‑focused on keeping our city safe today, at a moment when tensions were extremely high. They enforced the law, made arrests when necessary, and ensured public safety. Today, our robust operational plan was supported by our members’ expertise and the Service’s significant resources, including all tactical capabilities. We have a heavy police presence in the downtown area today and our officers will be making arrests for anyone breaking the law. Interfering with officers performing their duties or engaging in violence or any criminal behavior will not be tolerated.

Early this morning, officers responded to a home invasion in the Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue East area. A group of five suspects forced their way into a residence and stole a vehicle. Thanks to the outstanding work of @SPVM, the #1 suspect on @BoloProgram Canada's 25 Most Wanted List has been arrested. He has been charged with first degree murder for the July 17, 2025 homicide of Kashif Jamal Bentley‑Jean in Toronto. This arrest is another example of the importance of collaboration within law enforcement to apprehend violent criminals and keep our communities safe.

At today’s @TPSBoard meeting, Chief @TPSMyronDemkiw presented the actions already implemented following Project South, and he announced additional steps taken by the Service. These include: · Enhancing internal accountability by expanding the Professional Standards Unit; · The Chief’s Anti-Corruption Project focused on supervision, vetting, access to information systems, evidence management, and fitness for duty; · The “One TPS” Project to reinforce a consistent professional culture across all ranks and roles.
