@EdKrassen i was in an idr plan that was supposed to last 7 years and would be complete. At 6 years and 9 months without my consent or knowledge they sold the loan to another company, restarted the payment plan and my balance was equal to when i started the plan 7 years prior. IDR is a scam

Breaking: Joe Biden forgives $39 billion in student debt. The Biden Administration has just announced that it’s canceling the student loans debt of 804,000 Americans. This however, is not a broad repayment to just any students, like many people are reporting or implying on social media. The way this repayment works is based on certain criteria and a system that was actually already in place. This is a “fix” that is being made to what are referred to as “income-driven repayment plans.” To clarify, the administration released a statement saying: "These fixes are part of the Department’s commitment to address historical failures in the administration of the Federal student loan program in which qualifying payments made under IDR plans that should have moved borrowers closer to forgiveness were not accounted for. Borrowers are eligible for forgiveness if they have accumulated the equivalent of either 20 or 25 years of qualifying months." Basically the administration is being more lenient toward those who paused their payments or had to make partial payments in times when they were struggling financially. I'd love to know your thoughts on this. Personally I was never a fan of broad student loan forgiveness, but I do support this move in that it merely makes the rules more lenient and helpful to those who were struggling.
