This interview is exhibit A for why I believe scientists who actually run significant studies are more trustworthy sources of nutrition information than arm chair experts who only comment on them. youtu.be/MwH1CKZbsBE?si…

What's the opposite of the expression "firing on all cylinders"? Whatever it is, I'm that.

I don't understand coding and listening to music at the same time. That's like trying to touch the tip of your nose with your tongue while playing Dance Dance Revolution.

@trashyO @gigantiqandy Are they like extensions in #Kotlin? I binged on Kotlin a while back and loved the idea, but never got beyond the "is this useful or just cool?" level of competence.

@starkcoffee Quality code takes thinking time. Perhaps you are comparing yourself to fast low quality unmaintanable code which is actually a cost to the business not ‘fast’. Don’t feel bad. You most likely have a high quality bar. U rock!!!

New post! About #feminism, #agile principles, co-option, team-building - and why teams that embody feminist, queer, progressive principles are best placed to successfully use lean-agile methodologies. @Hanna.Thomas/why-dont-we-just-call-agile-what-it-is-feminist-8bdd9193edba?source=friends_link&sk=c3f22dc99833fef3453d1a57c38495e2" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@Hanna.Thomas/…

@trashyO That's the theory, but in practice I think they're too complex. Most of them involve inheritance which is more complex than you need 99% of the time.

Anonymous types seem like a dangerous language feature that could be overused.. When is it appropriate to use anonymous types versus a code smell? #csharp

@s_d_mcintyre A major design philosophy is to favour composition over inheritance .. unless you are taking about implementing interfaces?? In which case this is the very foundation on which IOC and loose coupling and service orientated architecture is founded. Personally, without design

@s_d_mcintyre I think design patterns do keep it simple. Especially because they create standard patterns that people can easily identify and recognise. Design patterns aren’t an anti-pattern to simplicity IMO

@trashyO I'm probably old school too but don't really like design patterns. Most of them I find are too complex. Just keep it simple 🙂.

@trashyO I think if it's contained within a small function, maybe it's OK, but I don't think it should leak outside that function.
