🎨 Minecraft Dungeons 2 Teaser
I worked on this trailer with Blender/Bforartists and it's finally live! Rendered in Cycles - was a very good project and great team.

Game designers figured this out decades ago and it cost millions in failed launches.
Will Wright built SimCity with a fully accurate traffic simulation. Testers hated it. The cars behaved realistically, which meant nobody could build a functioning city because real traffic is an unsolvable nightmare. He had to make the simulation dumber before the game became fun.
The tension is permanent: the more accurately you model a system, the more it punishes the participant. Real medieval economies kept 90% of the population in subsistence farming. A historically accurate fantasy world doesn't produce heroes. It produces serfs.
Tolkien solved this by making his economy deliberately vague. No one knows what a gold coin buys in Gondor. That ambiguity is a design choice, not a shortcut.
The Reddit post is funny. The lesson underneath it is one of the hardest problems in simulation design: fidelity and fun are opposing forces, and you have to pick which one wins.

The more I think about this the funnier it gets

Robert Kirkman’s own words. 3 weeks ago. Inspired the hell out of me. Averaged 12,000 copies. Straight from the author.

Pawel Sasko on the hardships of a story being developed and evolving (coming from the man who worked on Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077)
There is basically not a good story on your hand from the get go. As you develop the story can change and he says in their case it does change massively sometimes
This leads to my question: Pawel would you like to share some stuff with us that were originally planned for those games? Pretty please 🥹

@davee_ola @Dimension11S @hiruthegame @KIROOGames Twitter character limit won't let me describe my own ideal game🤣🤣.
So I'll just leave it that we can have infinite genres of Afro-games in these 3 settings.
Open-world, MMOs, Action, Adventure, Linear story-based, Platformers, Sims, Puzzles, Shooters etc. Its limitless.
English

@davee_ola @Dimension11S @hiruthegame @KIROOGames My take will be 3 classes:
- Afro-fantasy (Game of Thrones, Witcher, Skyrim, Bloodborne types)
- Modern Day (Afro-GTA types)
- Afro-futuristic (Afro-Cyberpunk, Deus-Ex types)
Nigeria as a setting is already dystopian😂 so we have many story opportunities. We can also adapt books

@davee_ola Unfortunately that's the future they are building. Spam as much unoptimized techniques as possible then rely on DLSS to fix it💔
I tried playing E33 on a 1650, the FPS was fine on low settings but it was visually noisy & unplayable. Thats when i knew we had a graphics crisis
English

@treasureimpact GPU vendors monopolizing game optimization techniques is just ridiculous. So these games look and play terribly until you purchase some type of graphics card 😅😂😂

Worked on some vehicles, model/animation reference etc. As always, wonderful job by the team, and Shaun O'Neil as well as Dou Hong for their guidance and direction.

@davee_ola People projected too much on it, they went in expecting The Witcher x Elden Ring x Zelda BOTW etc
They hyped it like it was the second coming😂. Whereas if they relaxed and saw it as a single player version of Black Desert Online, they would've been less disappointed.
English

@davee_ola I guess the problem was expectations vs reality.
From a graphics and mechanics standpoint, the game is solid. But even from the marketing, it was clear the narrative tying it all together won't be that strong. Unfortunately, most people missed this and overhyped it😂
English

Crimson Desert is a solid game in my book. I don’t really get why people are rage quitting. I’ve followed its development closely, and overall, the quality really shows. I hope these people are not playing a different game 😂😂😂😂

After wasting 20 minutes slamming his head into a boss with nothing but starter gear, Phil concludes that Crimson Desert is not a good game and rage quits.
