History recognizes actions that are bigger than self. Joe Biden will go down as one of the great ones, having led the country out of the disastrous term of his predecessor and quietly doing good things for all Americans, red state as well as blue, accomplishments that put him up there, in terms of legislative action, with LBJ and FDR. Joe, I can’t imagine where we’d be without your selfless service.
Joe Biden@JoeBiden

My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.

Sure, it might be kind of corny to be excited about a pull quote, but when it’s in relation to a Hayao Miyazaki film, it’s hard not to be excited. Delighted to be quoted on this one.

Remembering the great Elvin Jones who was born on this day in 1927. Regarded as one of the most impactful drummers in jazz history, Jones’ revolutionary style transformed the drums as a traditional time-keeping instrument. He established a forceful polyrhythmic approach to the traps set, combining different metres played independently by the hands and feet into a propulsive flow of irregularly shifting accents. For over four decades, his innovative rhythmic technique has served as a catalyst for drummers who seek greater improvisational freedom. Here, he is performing “Take the ‘A’ Train” with Duke Ellington and his orchestra live in Italy, 1966.
