In one of the most attention-grabbing ads of the election cycle, Osborn wielded a blowtorch and promised to help Trump build the wall.
This was a perfect example of how blue-collar identity politics can be leveraged to highlight an issue that appeals to more conservative voters. If Osborn wore his mechanic attire and called for a Green New Deal, it just wouldn’t have the same effect.

There are some places where the left is just flat out wrong (single payer in the U.S., energy & immigration policy to name a few). There are other places where they get it right directionally, but could use an editor.
For the center, influence is better than being obsolete.

Put another way: stop trying to win out over the left or bring them to heel. Be the connective tissue that binds an otherwise fractious coalition together. There is wisdom (and indeed certain good policy outcomes) in moderation. But it cannot be *the* only thing on offer.

I think the answer for the center-left hand wringers is to embrace a big tent politics where every ideological faction can fuse outsider sentiment with the sort of issues that resonate with the voters in their particular district. D primary electorates are becoming more left-wing, but moderate outsiders are still winning primaries around the country, they're just less covered.

Does anyone know the last time Haley Stevens has actually, of her own accord, spoken about Israel, Gaza, or the West Bank?
Just feels like her entire campaign has basically been “hey voters, look at this shiny distraction so you forget that I voted to send your tax dollars to fund weapons that Israel has used to blow up Palestinian children” while AIPAC pounds the airwaves on her behalf — talking about everything under the sun *except* for Israel/Palestine because they know it’s electoral kryptonite for her.
