It’s incredibly effective and probably extended my life by decades, but it’s not a cure. Maybe “CF remission” is close but still not perfect to describe the meds OP is referring to.

@nickhbet @razibkhan ~90% of people with CF carry at least one of the mutations that are eligible (i.e., FDA label) for the highly effective meds that OP is referring to, but 90% are not *on* the med, nor gleaning the upper bound of benefit. It’s also not a cure, though it’s extremely efficacious.

@razibkhan (2/x) but it’s wholly inaccurate to say it’s a cure. This isn’t a technicality; we still have exacerbations and other aspects of the typical CF phenotype and we also don’t know if there might come a point where modulators like Trikafta lose efficacy after long-term use.

All I’m gonna say is that Walz brand of positive and kind masculinity is a massive tool to use going forward to teach millions of people that being a strong man isn’t about domination and fear but through compassion, kindness and not the fascist masculinity of hate and domination
