I see lots of people talking about how TG groups are better than x communities/ chat, and I’ld like to give my opinion on this. I have created many TG’s in the past and have some experience with building communities. When we wanna build a strong community it's crucial that members can get to know each other and are able to connect. In order for people to connect they gotta be active first. One of the main flaws with TG groups is that once there are too many people in the same group people tend to just lurk and hide in the shadows. They don’t participate or engage and are just silent. If you add the raidbot and buybot, it just spams the whole chat and people simply won’t care to read the chat anymore, and thus not be motivated to engage at all (Buybot makes people just focus on price which suckst too). This is a major problem, because as community builder how can you build a community if you don’t even know who’s reading your messages or posts? In TG you can only see who reads your message when there are less than 100 members in the group. So once it’s above 100+ members you have no idea who’s reading your messages. Furthermore many guys in TG don’t even have a pfp or x linked in their bio so you have no idea who you’re talking to. It’s impossible to determine someone’s credibility and this causes lots of imposters to join and try to scam people. In the X community it’s much easier to figure out if someone is a real person/ holder or not. You can go to their profile, you can see their mutuals, check out their posts. In a matter of seconds you can figure out if someone is legit or not. After you have established that this person is actually a holder/bagworker you can invite them to the private x chat and make them part of the family. If your community is healthy people will welcome him/her and try to connect. As a community manager myself I can see who’s reading my messages in x chat, I can see who’s locked in, and I can have a better understanding of my community members. This knowledge is crucial if I really want to build a connection with my members. Once this connection is established community members are more willing to bagwork because they feel their work is being acknowledged and appreciated. I always reach out to every community member to check in with them as well. So from personal experience I felt building communities on x is more personal. We can get to know each other better and connect more easily. I feel like I’m talking with real people. I have tried to TG communities before and it always stressed me out because it needs 24/7 moderation. I felt it’s just moonboys, lurkers and fudders in TG chats. For me X chats are way more peaceful since it’s invite only. Anyway you should do what works best for your community, there is no 1 size fits all tbh. I failed miserably trying to build the Kilroy community on TG, but succeeded when I used x chat.
