@dgriffinpix @PitchPublishing I watched Yorkshire in JPL as a child. Sitting on the grass on the boundary at the Circle, Hull. Still go there but to watch rugby league, Hull FC at the MKM. No Circle anymore.

@martinderidder @SteveMascord Agree with that, as somebody who ran a team outside the heartland I know what you mean.

@trevorgi @SteveMascord But others basically seem to entirely blame the state of RL in England on RU. It definitely holds the sport back. RL does virtually nothing to grow the game outside heartlands. I speak as somebody who has done something to grow the game and get RU players to engage with it.

Rather than try to spark another code wars conversation at the weekend, I was trying to explore how sense of identity can lead to you not wanting your national team in any given sport to win. It's more interesting and nuanced than just my game is better than yours.

@martinderidder @SteveMascord Doesn’t affect how I approach RL one iota. I aren’t responsible if other people feel a victim, I don’t. I just don’t bother with or interact with RU. Nowt wrong with that IMHO.
