5️⃣ thots on regen community @ ETHDenver "year of the regenerates" 2025: 1. you may have seen me tweet some criticisms of ethdenver (and the organization behind it, sporkdao) this year. i stand by those criticisms. 2. these critiques were part of a larger discussion. some highlights. A. there are many ethdenver organizers who responded in good faith to my criticisms. thank you @mmjustin @0xjoshua @caseygaETH @rcastag for your many good faith interactions. B. there were many regen-ish people who responded in good faith to my criticisms. thank you @griffgreen @0xkrisv and others for your good faith interactions. C. during the events, i realized there were many people who agreed with my criticisms. part of why i came out so hard. D. we had a debate, healthy at times and also heated at times. but (other than 1 instance), never personal. E. i was disappointed to see some ppl entering the debate without doing even basic research and without having their facts straight. do better next time. F. at least one prominent community member keeps brining me up & trying to bend the narrative to their worldview, but isn't willing to debate me on stage about it. weaksauce. i'm already living rent-free in your brain, lets debate it! 3. some outcomes A. i am glad to see a regen stage with ~8~10 hours of programming was setup, run by regens. B. i am very glad to see that regen stage was standing-room-only at times. there is demand here! C. i am also glad to see the direction the regen commons dao is forming . D. lots of great memories, foundational moments, and onchain coordination were had the last few days. E. i take no credit for these things, the broader regen community did them. kudos to them! Announcing: ETHDenver Brand Hack TLDR: If you are a designer, brand marketer, or just an enthusiastic individual - this is your chance to show your stuff and maybe impact the future of Ethereum. Over the next 3 weeks, you will put together a proposal for what Ethereum's "ingredient branding" should look like. Think "Intel Inside" - but for your favorite L1. At the end of 3 weeks, you will have the opportunity to present your proposal to the community and anyone will be able to vote onchain for their favorite. As of now, there's no monetary reward from this - there's no guarantee that the winning design will be used - there's no endorsement from anyone in perceived positions of power. You should think of your work here as a free open source contribution. The problem you're solving: Today, there are hundreds of successful applications and chains that use Ethereum. This is great, but it means that attention (like liquidity!) gets fragmented. Users forget the important role that Ethereum is playing in the background. The solutions you're offering: A design for a "watermark" or logo that can be used inside of application UIs or on websites of apps, L2s, and beyond. Your proposal: This can be as simple as a single graphic or as involved as an entire brand book. You might optionally include: - examples of the mark you create in situ on apps or websites - a presentation on the considerations that went into your design - brand values - brand colors and typography - etc. Take what you like from the existing Ethereum branding or start as fresh as you like. There are no guard rails here.
