Don’t go Istanbul they said. Couldn’t have been more wrong. Beautiful city and such a friendly place. Magical trip and the best part was getting to experience it with my Step Daughter - some unforgettable memories 🫶❤️🤍 #nffc

Watching Scottish football and totally forgot it was FA Cup final day. Such an irrelevance these days, two weeks too early & couldn’t give a shit about watching it. Get the semis away from Wembley and put it back at the end of the season. #facup

Celtic will win this no doubt but would love Hearts to beat them to the title in their own back yard!

@forestmad80 Don’t see how we can realistically attract a top manager with narrative around our club and owner and no European football. Vitor has to be given a chance for me. Brought the feel good factor back and his in game management has been as good as any manager we’ve had in years #nffc

Vitor in, Vitor out or shake it all about then… Honestly when he came in I thought it was exactly what we needed and his record for getting a team moving in a short time speaks for itself. I did think it would be a plaster, one that would be ripped off in the summer whilst he walks away a hero after doing his job and we move onto a bigger name. Honestly, I’m torn. I love everything about what he has done, the way he has conducted himself, the way he’s brought that talented group of players off the floor and connected them with the football family once more. But… If someone like Eddie Howe, Farioli, Iraola was achievable should be brave enough to make the very tough decision? I’m not interested now if it’s Silva, Glasner, Frank and co but if it’s a really top manager should we at least make some enquiries? I think the key area that makes me want to stick is that age old word “stability”. I think we need to double down with Vitor, I wouldn’t give him too much power on the recruitment so that he can do what he does best on the training pitch. I’m genuinely excited to see what he can do with a full preseason and some strengthening in key areas. Where I said “I was torn” above, I was lying. I’m fully Vitor in. #NFFC

🚨 Nottingham Forest intend to hand Vitor Pereira new long-term contract. #NFFC hierarchy & players said to be happy with 57yo + talks planned over extension (current deal June 2027). Club also aim - as things stand - to keep all key players @TheAthleticFC nytimes.com/athletic/72822…

@Chardgrills @JohnPatching @forestmad80 Maybe deep in the post match analysis. Would have been 2/3 replays of the goal and then the full time whistle. Most fans would have moved on. The 6/7 minutes of replays increase the controversy which VAR was meant to fix!

I think now is the time we have a frank and honest discussion about VAR. We’ve given it a good go now and I think we all accepted there would be teething problems but it’s had plenty of chances and if anything it’s getting worse. I’ve always been pro VAR, I can just about navigate the loss of celebration if it leads to the right decision but too often that is now not happening. Are we now at a stage where we should just keep VAR for offsides? Scrap subjective fouls/handball/pens/red cards again and ask our referees to start refereeing the game again. Too often the refs are scared to give something or hesitant as they know VAR is there. Why not take all of that off of them and allow them to run the game once more. A lot of these decisions are subjective anyway so what’s the difference with VAR making these calls rather than the ref! Offside from the foot and no other body counts, fully automated offsides and let’s bring a bit of joy back in to the game of football. Offsides only on VAR for me. @FA_PGMOL #premierleague Yes or no?

@Chardgrills @JohnPatching @forestmad80 Nonsense. Without VAR people would barely have noticed! A few Arsenal fans may have moaned but we’d never have the examination of it we got. The narrative would have been Arsenal bottling it and a heroic late point for West Ham!

@trickytrees12 @JohnPatching @forestmad80 We would have had exactly that, seeing an arm over the GK when reaching for the ball The narrative would have swung in a way to say that has cost arsenal the title

@dwright75 Fourth or fifth. I’m not sure he’ll go tbh although Tuchel a fan. Bellingham, Rogers, then Palmer for sure. Even though Palmer below par. Eze under consideration plus Gibbs-White. Tuchel likes pace wide. He’s talked of Foden as a false 9 too. Just good that England have options.

Phil Foden back in business, two assists already, form temporary, class permanent etc. Great news for Manchester City. And England. Thomas Tuchel finalising his 26-man squad. He has others of Foden’s profile, at 10 or drifting off flank. But depth of options always welcome. #MCICRY

@GaryLineker @rocky3red There is more debate & controversy about that handball call for Celtic than there would be if there was no VAR & it was missed. Same as the title deciding decision at West Ham. VAR should have been to stop clear injustices instead creates more controversy than without. Get rid.

@chris_sutton73 It’s really not. Nobody wanted this. These title deciding calls in a previous era would hardly be talked about compared to how they’re being discussed now. VAR creates more controversy than it solves. It needs to go, it is ruining the game.

@JohnPatching @forestmad80 Ironically there would be less media scrutiny on both title decisions we’ve had in the last week had we had no VAR and the on field was just stuck with. Neither was a glaring injustice that people wanted VAR for…

@forestmad80 Yes but with that you’ve got to stop the media scrutinising every decision in minute detail. That creates a narrative around getting things perfect every time and football isn’t that. Show incidents but not for the decisions just the football.

I really hope there can be a sensible discussion about whether football moves away from VAR It’s been a number of years now, these aren’t teething troubles anymore, this is an addition to the game that currently takes more away than it gives, with no prospect of that changing. Yes, there’ll be more things missed, but things like spontaneity & flow contribute hugely to what makes football so great - the trade off, arguably, hasn’t been worth it. We still get human error, and always will - it just takes a lot longer with VAR
