@ElectricElecami Most likely something like that, but I suspect there's some separate mux or something that faults, as only alt-mode gets fucky. "normal USB" still worked fine on those ports. Made me debug things in vain until I realized that something was wrong with alt-mode only.

@tridekdu Maybe shorted the Vconn / CC and put it in a protect mode? A bit concerning. I usually test and use this on a Thunderbolt Hub or Thunderbolt device second port to try not break expensive laptop. The adapter has worked well directly on in Laptop when travelling.

Got a headset, and curiosity lead into some disassembly~ I have been trying to debug: why does the headset need the "link box"? It would be handy to use direct connection to a USB-C port that supports DP1.4

@ElectricElecami I got some weird behaviour when plugged a new (though de-shelled) adapter to my laptops USB4 capable USB-C port. It faulted the alt-mode (USB and charging still worked) so that I had to remove battery to get it back to working again. (bought same ones you had) So just a heads-up!

@tridekdu Good work with that. Looks good. I recently printed a bracket for VIVE Mouth Tracker to attach. Need to dig out supports so I an test it.

@ElectricElecami Oh, had similar success with similar (or perhaps even the same) module. But have been testing other options, so I could have PD input too. Been up to mods that require additional power to keep stable. >:3

@tridekdu Did you have any luck with this? Here is my new one. Works well. This adapter: aliexpress.com/item/100500750… (C to DP 4K60HZ C) Since this I have investigated how the CC line affects the Hot Plug Detect in the Link Box and think I have worked out how to implement it. Will try on next.

(not sure how tiny current fluctuations though). But swapping the "detect light" to "detect current anomalies" might be viable.
