MVP supports the choice of female fighters to pursue 2 minute or 3 minute rounds. However our ultimate goal / vision is for equal rules given amateur male and female fighters are competing with 3 minute rounds and we believe this should be the case in professional boxing. Equal rules is the case in professional MMA. Men and women prospects at MVP are paid on the same exact scale even though most female fighters are fighting shorter rounds. As you become a contender and hopefully a champion, pay is 100% meritocracy driven by a combination of the awareness / engagement, the business interest and the revenue a fighter drives / generates. Gender has ZERO to do with the pay. Alycia Baumgardner is fighting 3 minute rounds until there is a big enough opportunity that necessitates she does otherwise and we support that 100%. Saturday May 30th’s MVPW-03 headlined by the Stephanie Han vs Holly Holm rematch and Amanda Serrano vs Cheyenne Hanson are both 10 x 3 minute rounds. Live on ESPN at 9pm est. Equally we support our champions who choose to continue fighting 2 minute rounds. Women’s boxing is growing. There will be bumps in the road. But the goal is for there to be a prosperous and sustainable destination.
