The current St Stephen’s Green shopping centre looks like a Mississippi steamboat plonked in the middle of Dublin. The rebuild plans are generic and awful, but let’s not kid ourselves the original had much in the way of merit either.

@boombastitis @KeithWoodsYT this "left-right" dichotomy is fundamentally an Anglo cultural framing completely inappropriate to a Gaelic society which in it's time had social and cultural practices associated with both and with neither.

Let’s not pretend the west side of St Stephen’s Green isn’t already ruined by terrible architecture. St Stephen’s Green is one of the largest Georgian garden squares in Europe, packed with history, and next to no attempts to preserve it.
