As Max Blumenthal of The Grayzone explained on Piers Morgan Uncensored, the relentless repetition of the “30,000” figure served several strategic purposes for the US and Israel. It minimized the gravity of the over 80,000 named and documented Palestinians killed in Israel’s genocide in Gaza by implying that Iran had committed a similar scale of killings in just a few days. Additionally, it desensitized reactionary monarchists within the Iranian diaspora and the broader Western public to the ongoing massacre now being carried out directly by US and Israeli military strikes.
