RCB today playing their “home” league game not in Bengaluru, but in Raipur. Shifting two home matches away from M. Chinnaswamy Stadium despite the venue being available makes absolutely no sense. This is no longer about logistics or taking IPL to new cities, it’s blatant favouritism. Prabhtej Singh Bhatia as BCCI Treasurer gets 2 RCB games in his state. Devajit Saikia as BCCI Secretary gets 3 Rajasthan Royals matches in Guwahati, that too against RCB, CSK and MI. Arun Singh Dhumal as IPL Chairman, as usual, gets Punjab Kings matches in Dharamshala, this time even Qualifier 1. And Ahmedabad once again gets the IPL final. Nothing against these cities, but sidelining loyal home fanbases because of influence is a terrible look for the league. Secondary venues should come through proper IPL expansion, not through administrative power and political positioning inside the BCCI.
