Those people saying that they ruined Motoko’s character in the new series really don’t know Motoko at all. Even though it took decades, I’m glad to see her true version brought to life on the screen, and it’s a breath of fresh air

@uniquemoviemom There were no "beloved characters" there. They were so ridiculous and stupid that the audience was actually glad to see them die! I would even suggest that the Villain wipe out every single character—absolutely all of them—and put an end to this stupid film adaptation.

I bet the showrunners probably thought everyone would be mortified at this scene like "oh nooo, all your beloved characters are dyinggg", but got the entire audience cheering for the villain instead.

These are all the same character depicted by four different creative teams. I understand the attachment to the Mamoru Oshii's or Kenji Kamiyama's takes on her because most of us saw them first. But all these are good and have something to offer. However, the new 2026 show happens to be more true to the original author's manga. So saying she's "ruined" is pretty silly.

@SadVampire1776 The top two shots are the best thing that ever happened to *Ghost in the Shell*. The shot on the left is a philosophical reimagining of the manga. The one on the right is the original brought to life! The bottom shots—no, that’s something else entirely. I didn't like those anime

#Anime #GiS This looks really cool! I'm thrilled! Masamune Shirow's manga has come to life! I'm so glad to see everyone from Section 9 again! The humor and art are top-notch! This is the best anime adaptation...after Mamoru Oshii, of course. BUT perhaps the best manga adaptation!
