A sad sight... HMS Bristol being scrapped in Aliaga, Turkey. The world's only Type 82 Destroyer and Falklands veteran.

July 22nd 1982: RFA Tidespring, one of the hardest working supply ships of the entire Falklands task force returns to Gosport in the UK looking slightly worse for wear. She supported Operation Paraquet and went on to RAS and Vertrep between the Falklands and Ascension. 1/2

More fun on the water last night. Cadets working towards their Paddke UK Discover award. This time we were exploring self rescues, an important safety point for them. Whilst a serious subject, this one always ends in smiles, especially when the CO can be splashed!!

The battleship HMS Vanguard. She is often derided for being armed with ‘her Great Aunt’s teeth’. This is due to her being equipped with four spare 15-inch turrets from storage, previously used on Courageous and Glorious prior to their conversion into carriers. 1/14

2) I just loved the shot above, showing how big the Sea Dart system was... and found another cracking shot below. It's tragic what's happening to HMS Bristol now. Unofficially a cruiser, and the world's only Type 82, she really should be taken to her home city as a museum ship.

August 14th 1982: Falklands Flagship, Type 82 Destroyer HMS Bristol, receives RAS from RFA Regent to include main gun ammunition and Sea Dart missiles. It is evident that the UK is not letting its guard down and that the task force is still ready for action.

What a great pleasure it was to be both witness to and be a part of Rev. Paul White’s commissioning ceremony as part of the District Carol Concert. Welcome aboard as our new chaplain officially Sir. Service and ceremony conducted by the Area Chaplain, Father Jim Horton.
