We just built a live bridge between Substance Painter and UEFN. 🎨→🎮
Paint in Substance → click Sync → see it in UEFN. In real time.
• Auto FBX import + spawn
• PBR Material with Material Instances (no recompile on sync)
• Smart sync only changed textures get reimported

There is literally no reason to use the extremely buggy Popup device in UEFN anymore. I encourage all devs to remove them from their games and make your own now. Far superior and hopefully you never have to worry about them being bugged. dev.epicgames.com/community/lear…

Now you just have to admit that the UEFN Session is terrible. The devs spend more time pushing changes than developing.
Roblox Studio takes 5 seconds to test additions.

Epic Games has admitted its PC launcher "sucks" and promised major speed upgrades "The launcher sucks. It's really slow. Let's call it what it is. It should start to feel good, be faster, and that will be a win for us"

Ultimately, what'll kill this current phase of UEFN is chasing the Roblox player base, since the Roblox engine is lightyears ahead when deploying games.
Which is what said player base wants. Effective, responsive games that are made fast, maintained constantly.
I really, dearly miss the days of 1.0 where Epic had actually matched that speed with their Devices.
Were they perfect? No. They didn't have exposed values, debugging them was the same as contacting spirits via Ouija board, and they tied us back to Fortnite's visual language and art style.
UEFN "freed" us from 1.0, but shackled us to some laggy, terribly long-to-load-into-session, new chains, instead.
As a creative person, I dislike UEFN at its current state. Edit Sessions are the only feasible way to get anything done fast. I hope that changes. I'm playing my part in reporting what's needed and rooting for it.
