@herdyshepherd1 Galanthus S Arnott. Tall, honey scented and prolifically self-seeding (though slightly more expensive than g. Nivalis)

Random question - what type of snowdrops are the prettiest? Mrs R wants a bank of them behind the farmhouse - of you have a surplus after they’ve flowered and are anywhere near let me know

#plantID please. A tall flower spike - about 4 ft - growing in a flowerbed, so it may not grow so tall in the wild. Popular with bees.

#plantID please. This is about 4 feet tall and has planted itself in a flowerbed, so may be shorter if growing on poorer soil. It is popular with bees.

Can anyone ID this flower seen on my walk today on the edge of a wooded area of chalk downland? @BSBIbotany

@ellielanning Will it measure up to Empshott's high standard? 😉 I'll ask the girls if they would like to go.

@ellielanning 25 is my score, I think. Some are on our shelves if you want to read them, though I don't necessarily recommend them! And 2 are on my "to read" pile.

While pavement-gazing, you may come across a rare but increasing miniature spurge. You’ll need your x 10 to see that it’s a Euphorbia: a prostrate plant with pinkish stems and brown spotted leaves. Euphorbia maculata from N. America. At Silwood, its habitat is brick paviors.
