@kingarthur2 Did you ever see them around that time?
Was tonight the first time you’ve played an Avalanches song on air? I almost fell over when it came on! 😆
Respect man.

@kingarthur2 Fantastic set Mr Cross.. What a great idea!
I remember loving listening to DBC when I lived in LDN from ‘80 to ‘85. I’ve still got a ratty/natty DBC T- shirt from then. 😀
I also saw The Clash with Mikey Dread at Brixton Town Hall in ‘81 or ‘82. Incredible!! Did you ever see tbc

immaculatey crafted basslines, perfection: beautiful long arcs of counterpoint to Bob and to his brother Aston. The greatest. undeniable.

to me, aside from bob himself, the defining characteristic of his catalog is aston barrett. as my man @PeteyGreeneNC described it, where robbie shakespeare propelled, aston crept and crawled. that man could be anywhere at any time, but always where he should have been.

"It's a shame that the rest of the media has to almost follow the trawler like seagulls, an agenda set by the biggest beasts in the jungle."
After Gary Lineker was criticised for saying that the government's language around migration is similar to the language used in 1930s Germany, James O'Brien addresses the reasons behind the backlash.
