Many times my commitment to daily metrics is labeled as somehow reducing the art or feel of what we do as Supers or greenkeepers. As I continue the process I feel like it enhances mine. Based on yesterday's numbers we wouldn't mow today (pic2). Based purely on member-guest week with no metrics we would probably double mow and roll as often as possible asding mechanical stress as historic management for an important club event. Because of wind and temps we are better across the board metrics-wise today (pic2) before mowing than yesterday (pic1). Playing the scenario out we are going to single mow anyway with tomorrow afternoon being stag day and Sunday is the final round and shootout. Having these events at the end of the season are great but outside play levels are very high with spring break and great weather. Member-Guest is just a portion of the play we will set up for the next 4 days on all 45 holes @LBKCR. All the best to the golf staff over the next 4 days.

To whom it may concern: stop applying Jena experiment results to crop production. -Farmers use managed, intelligent species selection; mixtures must beat the best monocultures, not the average of all monocultures as ecology measures it. -Biodiversity benefits in ecological research take 3–5+ years to emerge in perennial systems; this tells us nothing about annual crops or cover crops. -Ecological research finds that biodiversity correlates with benefits, not what causes them, and without knowing the mechanism, farmers have no basis for action.
