Okay it can snow now. Just spent half-hour trying to get the old snowblower started. It was in deep hibernation 😴 #CT

@msruggerio 27. I’ve written 27 this year. I have averaged 24 or so the last 10 years. I’d love to know the same. I dread fall for exactly this.

@YepOkSure I teach chemistry. I need a tech platform that:
1) costs less than pencil and paper
2) is faster/less inconvenient for writing equations
3) Allows students to show their mathematical reasoning/draw pictures
4) is secure against cheating (compared to paper)
LMK what you got.

@sheridan120 @DispatchAlerts I enjoyed the article. My alma mater represented well. I believe there is still a place for small liberal arts colleges.
English

Between skepticism about the value of college degrees and a renewed push for workforce programs, I wondered how liberal arts college presidents were viewing this moment in higher ed.
Their answers were honest and hopeful.
My latest for @DispatchAlerts ⤵️

@Tweetlahuac I worked through the 21st. Back tomorrow. Oh well.

@heymrsbond I quit collecting or assigning formal homework. I’ll walk around & place a non-calculating 0 or 1 in my grade book. I post the entire answer key. If they want to reassess, then all HW must be completed & shown prior to me allowing them to reassess.

@TweetingPureAu Organic chem is the closest we have. (Semester long).

@IBchemmilam My district will need a chemistry teacher next year, the year after, and then the year after. Plus a physics teacher. And a couple biology teachers. (9 science teachers in the next 5 years)
I’m not sure they are out there.

@sheridan120 I might offer advice on science stuff. Your ability to write? Heck no!! (Or is that: Heck, no!!)

@MarcusLuther6 And… the kids then never read the syllabus you spend all the time having to put on there.
“What did I miss?” “I didn’t know that was due.” “We have a test today?”
English

@IsitJuneyet @MarcusLuther6 If it’s a name or pronoun, I thank them for correcting me. Talk about power. HS. And 100% - I mess up, I admit it, in front of class. Funny how much less lying I then get from kids 1-on-1.
English

@MarcusLuther6 I say please and thank you routinely, and I apologize when I make a mistake - pronounce a name incorrectly, blank on a name, mark a paper incorrectly, speak sharply (rare, but I’m human), and such. I teach hs, and the golden rule is crucial.
