📚 [NEW BOOK] 📖 Coming soon: a new anthology co-edited by TMR editors @HalasaMalu and @JordanElgrably “Sumūd: A New Palestinian Reader” launches Jan 21st! Published by @7storiespress. The Arabic word sumūd is often loosely translated as “steadfastness” or “standing fast.” It is, above all, a Palestinian cultural value of everyday perseverance in the face of Israeli occupation. Sumūd is both a personal and collective commitment; people determine their own lives, despite the environment of constant oppressions imposed upon them. “Sumūd” is an anthology that celebrates the power of culture in Palestinian resistance, with selections of memoir, short stories, essays, book reviews, personal narrative, poetry, and art from The Markaz Review. The essays, stories, poetry, art and personal narrative collected in "Sumūd: A New Palestinian Reader" is a rich riposte to those who would denigrate Palestinians’ aspirations for a homeland. It also serves as a timely reminder of culture’s power and importance during occupation and war. 🔗 Learn more and pre-order now: bit.ly/tmr-books Featuring contributions by: Ahed Tamimi (@AhedTamimi5), Ilan Papé (@pappe54), Tahrir Hamdi (@HamdiTahrir), Hossam Madhoun, Sara Roy, Ivar Ekeland, Khalil Rabah, Mosab Abu Toha (@MosabAbuToha), Taysir Batnaji (@taysir_batniji), Saleem Haddad (@sysh), Karim Kattan, Olivia Snaije (@oliviasnaije), Ahmed Twaij (@twaiji), Ahmed Masoud (@masoud_ahmed), Noor Hindi (@MyNrhindi), Samir Harb, Layla Alammar (@Layla_AlAmmar), Eman Quotah (@EQuotah), Maya Abu Al-Hayyat, Dena Takruri (@Dena), Mohammed Sabaaneh (@Sabaaneh), Zeina Azzam (@zeina3azzam), Diane Shammas (@lebanesedynamo), Saeed Taji Farouky (@saeedtaji), Adam Broomberg (@AdamBroomberg), Rafael Gonzalez, Raja Shehadeh, Jo Glanville (@joglanville1), Haneen Nazzal, Mohammed El-Kurd (@m7mdkurd), Rana Salman, Fadi Quran (@fadiquran), Chloé Benoist (@chloebenoist), Rula Halawani, Brett Kline, Fadi Kattan (@fadikattan), Nora Ounnas Leroy, Ahmad Almallah (@Abuhmeddi), Raeda Saadeh, Maurice Ebileeni (@Mebileeni), Nawal Qasim Baidoun, Tayseer Barakat, Jenine Abboushi, Heba Tannous, Yousef M. @SkyNews Have you read your own headline?? The Israelis were singing anti-Arab chants, yet somehow it’s the Israelis that are the targets?

🚨1/ This New York Times piece is wild. Let's go through it. Firstly, the lede is an emphasis that attacks in Amsterdam were based on antisemitism, yet it cites no evidence of this, but DOES cite evidence of anti-Arab chants.

@MaxAbrahms I thought you’re a professor? The security vacuum in Iraq took months (a decade in the case of isis) before it was filled by terrorists.

Israeli counterterrorism successes against Hamas and Hezbollah have hopefully taught some pundits and commentators that not every counterterrorism mission is the Iraq war. It’s amazing how few cases of counterterrorism they seemed to know anything about, leading them to conclude that Israel would only strengthen Hamas and Hezbollah and the goals must therefore be genocide and territorial expansion and extending Netanyahu’s political career—surely not massively degrading terrorist groups intent on destroying Israel!

By this same perverted logic, Britain could have defeated 'terrorism' in Northern Ireland by turning much of it into a smoking wasteland, by bombing civilians, shooting children in the head, killing journos & aid workers. Lord Snooty is utterly deluded. telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/10/1…
