@Michael7ucci Every time I meet a European in the States, if they aren't explicitly "left", they will treat every encounter on an individual basis. Genuine openness and curiosity. Maybe some judgement, which is fine. It seems like the ones that never come here have all the hatred for us.

The Japanese have mastered the basic diplomatic skill of acting like they *don't hate Americans.* They even show enjoyment of Americans. This could have downstream impacts in US alliance priorities because so many Europeans are incapable of achieving these basic of skills.

@Kasekisai_T So, Americans have a few different types of rice cookers, some are similar to the one shown, with a latching door on a hinge. Another common type has a simple glass lid that has a handle and a hole to release steam, much simpler. Is the type of cooker important to this recipe?

@hirokatz Along with the advice to try American peanut butter, note that there is a difference between "jelly" and "jam". I personally prefer jam, as it spreads more evenly, but some prefer jelly since it can be sweeter.

@FUTOCHIMPO I feel like fried rice is to Asian cultures what "stew" is to European/North American culture. Or maybe paella in Spanish cultures. Sort of a base (rice or broth) that you are adding whatever's around. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, but you learn as you go.
