1/2 Quick query for international lawyers: for my UNGA report on counter-terrorism by regional organizations I'm interested in examples of regional human rights bodies being (1) more or (2) less protective on national security issues than international/UN human rights law?

Q to UK colleagues re: @bricksilk 's recent review of 🇬🇧 IP Act & recommendations. Is/was there a debate on (a) medium/high expectations of privacy when UKIC uses commercially acquired BPDs (b) the current acquisition standard? I'd appreciate any leads for an intl comparison.

Interestingly, according to the piece, the Dutch Intelligence Oversight Body (CTIVD) held a roundtable on this topic. "Although itself cannot act, as it is only charged with overseeing MIVD/AIVD", it sure initiated an important discussion which may inspire others to do the same.

more legislative attention should be drawn to the stark differences regarding the availability of safeguards and data handling requirements for similar activities across different sectors ... and what can be done to better prevent creative non-compliance (forum/regime shopping).
