@StrideNamzx Yeah, same here. Trying to fill every bit of free space in my sketchbook with ghosted planes & ellipses. Hope it pays off over time

@twibe34 Thanks! I always started warmups with superimposed lines and ghosted planes + ellipses in planes exercises at a minimum, so my accuracy bettered over time. Although, I still struggle drawing extremely small ellipses which is important for some branches/stems in the plant exercise

[Day 141] "Pitcher Plant and Hibiscus (again)" I made another one for the homework (should be without details). Tbh it kinda sucks to look at. I really should've drawn an ellipse to make the petal lengths consistent. But I shouldn't grind too much. #drawabox

[Day 147] "Lily and Morel Mushroom" I really cooked with this page, imho. The mushroom is still unfinished, as its texture seems so detailed in the reference. I had to break down the shadows into dots and small shapes before filling them in. Might finish it tmr. #drawabox

Love trying something new with every attempt. So this time it's about using a screw to scratch the paper 😀 This way, graphite doesn't get into the grooves when applying tone, which creates these fine white hairs.

@StrideNamzx Oh, know that feeling when you want to give your ideas the best execution possible, but you just can't at current level. The 50% Rule is exactly about just going for it and giving it a try no matter what the outcome is, but I`m still fighting myself to follow it as intended

Just as a linguist does not necessarily speak a foreign language, I still can't do art cuz I get so scared of doing it wrong that I compensate by doing a lot of exercises. While it's necessary, it is only making me better at doing exercises that neglect the ART part of it all.

It's hard for me to call myself an artist. I cannot for the life of me carry that label's weight of being to create art if I just focused on these exercises, yet not draw anything for myself. Honestly, I'm probably closer to being a practitioner than an artist.

Sometimes I just sit and think: dafaq I just drew? Did I rush it again? But then I get a little curious about what kind of result I'm gonna get out of that piece of sh..sketch, yeah 😄

It's always hilarious how bad my sketches may look before at least first pass of fixing proportions (wip of this week portrait practice)
