@JamesSurowiecki You take into account all the past due payments on empty skyscrapers that banks have been punting for years and drop in the possibility of job losses and shrinkage from unsold overpriced goods causing lease cancellation and the current shit show is just scratching the surface.

This is exactly how it felt in 2008-9, when we waited for the futures on Sunday night to see how bad things would get. But then, the crisis was the result of a real problem: the housing bubble bursting. This time around, the crisis is literally the result of the whims of one man.

@NateSibley Ironic how many American business owners and managers require proficiency assessments to get a job in America, but Americans don’t require their representatives in legal matters and laws of the land to have an inkling of a clue.

She’s lucky to have been born an American citizen, because she’d fail the civics test that I, and other legal immigrants, have rightly had to pass to become one.

Dear Republicans, If you don’t like a trans woman being featured on a can of Bud Light, don’t drink Bud Light. If an M&M in sneakers offends you, don’t eat M&Ms. If Cracker Jill hurts your feelings, don’t eat that stuff either. If you don’t like the fact that Target sells LGBTQ+ merchandise, don’t shop there. And if Amanda Gorman’s famous poem, “The Hill We Climb” upsets you, then don’t read it. The point is that no one is forcing you to do any of that shit. But YOU don’t get to decide if the rest of us can.
