It's actually a function used to train/tweak the algorithm. Ex: If enough people dislike a reply due to it being spam, bots, ragebait, misleading stuff, AI slop, etc, The algorithm will then demote that replies visibility so other replies get seen. It's really just a "show me less of this" button.
