I sent my first tweet on 13 March 2007. This weekend I deleted the app from my phone. I can't condone where this platform is going. I'm still here for work, but I'm making a point of finding the other places. Eg Reeder 5 is fab for keeping up with people and topics (RSS ftw)

@rmkf My skin improved, but that took longer than 3 weeks. Maybe 2 months

Almost three weeks without alcohol and I can honestly say this year I didn't feel hugely different physically or mentally. Doesn't really validate the effort.

If your government (national, local, whatever) or organisation (public, private, whatever) has ever made use of the GOV.‌UK Design System (code, guidance, whatever), please reply and let us know what impact it had. RT for reach? Thank you! 🙏

I’m preparing for a conversation about PMOs. Looking for advice and blogs. Spoiler alert: I’m not a fan. I’m thinking “PMO as a service” rather than over resourced producers of cookie cutter processes and vacuous data collection. I know we can do better 😊

@pixlz Oh crikey, I forgot those days. Yes that! I think I also used to fold the bags, keep them in my work box and reuse them (before I switched to bags-for-life). I might still have one in there youtube.com/watch?v=cB80iu…

Rather exciting news. If you ever missed out on the GDS Academy 'Introduction to Content Design' course, it's now available on Futurelearn as something you can do over four weeks. Sign up now! designnotes.blog.gov.uk/2023/04/04/int…

@tomskitomski Do you reckon the type of person matters too / is worth recording? Eg attendance from people a team would describe as leadership level. Does it matter if those people get their info through other routes? Honest question.

@neillyneil I just did this yesterday too! We only just had fibre installed in our street. The new install is Friday. Virgin gave me no reason to stay, including making several very misleading statements in their 'courtesy call' to try and keep me

Taken me ages to get around to it but I just cancelled Virgin Media and signed up for Community Fibre and did a little giggle of delight. Had such a ropey service where I live I've been dual-running with Cuckoo for 12 months (who are fab btw for FTTC)

@pixlz It took my a long time to be comfortable with the word. Usually a person's resilience in an org context. But rather than measuring it based on some internal individual feeling, can better be measured based on the support (action, not words) that person has access to

@tomskerous @HannahDellarmi I'd like it if you stayed beyond that. The words are probably less important than the confidence that it won't be taken the wrong way. That's a very valued team member. I can see the love. So yes let's aim for a cake that suggests you go f yourself, or some version of that ;)

@loft27design I once asked 'given the accessibility challenges you've faced, what different architectural choices do you think you'd make if you had to do it again?' ... with me knowing full well the thing was very very not accessible

'Is it accessible?' - I've seen this question being posed a lot over the years and the folks being asked get overwhelmed/frustrated - instead ask things like 'How have you approached accessibility when designing/building 'X''? or 'What gaps are you aware of in your approach?'

@tomskerous I have nudged. It seems our contracting team is trying to get everything sorted for Monday, but yes let's see what happens

(And another week off would definitely suit me, but let's see. It's not anyone's fault - just the way all this tentativeness between the layers has to play out, and takes time to do so.)

I *think* I now have a signed contract. I've certainly signed something that looks like one. But - like buying a house - I don't know if that means the whole chain is in place. It's all very couched in "subject to..." terms. So I remain lightly dubious about starting on Monday.

@PhilippaNewis Ah yes, and also paid for training. I think DMs should get UCD training. I think that should considered part of the standard pack of potential training

@PhilippaNewis I've also seen specific 'introduction to' sessions, usually run for new starters. Also usually focussed on infrastructure (so some knowledge is assumed). But I can't see why the 'intro to' couldn't be at a more fundamental level

Looking for advice: we have delivery managers from different backgrounds, how can we help ourselves to get a good grounding in digital/technology basics. The outcome we are looking for is that DM’s can ask good questions, plan well and know enough to follow technical chats.
