Today I returned to #Taiwan after a fruitful visit to #Eswatini, further strengthening our partnership. Overcoming initial disruptions, the trip further highlighted that the people of Taiwan have both the right & the resolve to continue contributing to the global community.
30 years ago today, Taiwan held its first direct presidential election, with voters defying China's missile threats to choose their leader.
This launched a thriving democracy that stands as a model of freedom. We remain committed to supporting Taiwan's sovereignty and security.
