Tesla Robotaxi Service in 🇩🇪 Germany to be Expanded For several months now, two self-driving Tesla robotaxis have been operating in the municipality of Arzfeld in the Eifel region of Germany, providing free rides to the doctor or for shopping. The project is a collaboration between the municipality of Arzfeld and the engineering company Tesla Automation in Prüm. The project began as a pilot program and has been operating regularly for some time. Due to its success, it is now being expanded. The 70-year-old takes the Tesla taxi about 16 kilometers every week to her physiotherapist in Arzfeld. "It's great that something like this exists. I really enjoy riding in it," says Gänßmantel. The high-tech taxi reminds Gabriele Gänßmantel of the cult series "Knight Rider" from the 1980s, in which David Hasselhoff drove a self-driving car. "The car can't talk like in the series, but it drives and it works. I'm not afraid either," says the woman from the Eifel region. That will change once Grik is available. The SWR media team drove the car from Waxweiler to Arzfeld through snow, rain, hail, and fog. The car arrived safely at its destination without any problems. Currently, there are two such taxis in the Arzfeld municipality. According to the local council, however, demand for the service is high. The mayor of the Arzfeld municipality, Johannes Kuhl (CDU), is counting on even more Tesla taxis for the region in the long term. "While we have already improved bus service in the past, it's not enough yet," says Kuhl. There are many elderly people with limited mobility. "Autonomous driving is one way to improve things. The development is rapid. Autonomous driving is the technology of the future," the CDU politician continued. So far, the semi-autonomous cars are only operating in the municipality of Arzfeld. The district administrator of the Bitburg-Prüm district, Andreas Kruppert (CDU), wants to change that in the future and expand the service to the entire district. Largely unnoticed, a small rural community in Germany, supported by politicians, is expanding the Tesla robotaxi service and demonstrating that it is safe, convenient, cost-effective, and works everywhere. It is high time that this receives attention and imitators throughout Germany and Europe.

@Nomannes @saki_statements Die 2’561 CHF Ersparnis sind ein Vergleich: Tesla schätzt die Benzinkosten eines vergleichbaren Autos und zieht meine Ladekosten ab (2 833 - 272 CHF). Vermutlich kein VW Polo, sondern ein ähnlich grosses und starkes Fahrzeug.

@Nomannes @saki_statements Bei aktuellen Preisen in Deutschland von etwa 2.05 - 2.10 €/L läge man sogar bei ungefähr 12.3 - 14.7 € / 100 km. Wenn nicht höher…

Die Tankpreise sind echt hoch. Egal. Ich bin mit meinem E-Auto im letzten Monat 1.854 km gefahren und habe nur 42€ dafür gezahlt. ☺️

Tesla just released a new software update (2026.8) that refines the way the brakes feel in the 2026+ Model Y. “Your Tesla now provides a smoother feel as you come to a complete stop during routine braking.” The new Model Y has a different braking system compared to the last gen model, where it blends regenerative braking with the physical brakes. Seems like Tesla is just fine tuning the feel of it. Cool.
