Markus was given the code-name "Oleander", and did not acclimate well into the group, and still doesn't really. He's not very approachable, he's stressed, he smokes the last of the group's cigarettes and drinks the rest of the alcohol whenever he spirals, and hates his uniform.

Markus was previously in a branch of the military called the Billgarde, this is where he spent most of his life, and the day that he was set to go back home- the chaos ensued.
He was eventually found by Agent Lavender and was recruited into Agence Squad 19.

The general gist of Sand Dunes is that it's an apocalyptic landscape, a country turned into a deserted wasteland after bombs were created and "accidentally" detonated. After the bombs, groups and factions were formed, one of which is Agence Squad 19. (Some are old designs).
