Look at the Valkyries roster this trade was obvious Anyone who is an actual basketball/WNBA fan knows that this was a preplanned trade, and there are multiple reasons for this: 1. Flau'jae was shocked by the pick, not that she was picked this high, but that she was picked by the Valkyries. This most likely implies that when she met with them, they did not seem to have her high on their draft board and did not work out with her much. 2. The Valkyries have a lot of guards. I was honestly confused, just as she was, when they drafted her. I mean, she is going to be a good player, but it is hard to fit on a team with that many guards on the roster. 3. This could be scizoing out, but she did not put on the hat when she was drafted, which could mean something. That is a little less of a reason for this trade being obvious, though. 4. The trade happened instantly. I doubt she even talked to anyone on the Valks team before the deal was done. Now we can get into the reason why a team would do this. Coming into the draft, Flau'jae was rated as a top 5 player with upside and a good fanbase. So when she is sitting there at pick 8, you kind of feel like you are forced to take her. Then you can trade her for a player that is more valuable to you and a pick to a team that either values Flau'jae higher or needs a small guard on their roster. I do kind of get it. It is a highly popular talent getting traded just as she got drafted onto a team, but all the signs were there, and it did not surprise me one bit that she got traded. I did think maybe the Valks could have gotten more, but they took the gamble in a sense, and that is what they got.
