This backs up what I’ve been talking about for months. Wirtz is naturally ‘positionless No 10’ but Liverpool’s lack of technical ability/passing-progression in the first line has meant he goes into no-man’s land far too much to facilitate buildup. Maybe this is why Liverpool are favourites to sign Wharton. That’s step 1, we also need a RB to complete the project so we’re not reliant on Van Dijk to connect with the 6. Wharton splitting CBs is dependent on the opposition press, not as a default buildup structure. #LFC

@NicoSchira If he actually leaves while Slot is still here, we’re going to become one of those clubs that takes years to build success only to fall off and have to start all over again. I don't think the 'big club' statement will even be valid anymore.
