“We happen to have great geothermal resources, relatively close to the surface… We can capture that heat and turn it into electricity and get it to people.” Texas has been drilling oil and gas wells for over 100 years. We have the knowledge, workforce, and infrastructure to unlock geothermal energy. Watch Barry Smitherman, Founder of the Texas Geothermal Energy Alliance, on the Texas Talks podcast. #geothermal #txenergy #txlege #energypolicy youtube.com/watch?v=6RsaiY…

Geothermal energy has one of the smallest environmental footprints of any power source — even smaller than solar and wind. When it comes to land use, geothermal takes less space per gigawatt of electricity generated than other renewables or coal. That means we can produce clean, reliable energy while keeping more land available for communities, nature, and other uses. bit.ly/3MPp0eZ #geothermal #txenergy #txlege #energypolicy

What are Engineered Geothermal Systems (EGS)? EGS are man-made geothermal reservoirs created using hydraulic fracturing to open pathways through rock. Fluids are pumped through these pathways, heated by the Earth’s natural heat, and then brought to the surface to power turbines and generate electricity. This technology allows geothermal energy to be harnessed in areas without naturally occurring reservoirs, expanding opportunities for clean, reliable power. #geothermal #txenergy #energypolicy

Texas Geothermal Energy Alliance Announces Executive Leadership Transition Austin, Texas — The Texas Geothermal Energy Alliance (TXGEA) announced today that Executive Director @Jademgillespie has accepted a new role as the Executive Director of the @texasports (Texas Ports Association). TxGEA Executive Vice President Matt Welch said, "During her tenure, Jade strengthened TXGEA’s legislative strategy, expanded industry partnerships and advanced Texas’ position in next-generation geothermal development — reinforcing geothermal energy as a critical component of the state’s long-term energy dominance." "She will no doubt bring that same level of focus and determination to her new role with the TPA. We will miss her as she sets sail on her new endeavor.”

A common misunderstanding of enhanced geothermal is that it needs to be developed in places like Iceland, Japan, etc. But folks, this is not your grandparents geothermal. Huge amounts of energy in the Western US that can be tapped.

Genuinely curious, where in the US is geothermal energy possible? We don't have a bunch of active geothermal spots I can think of like Iceland does.

There are only a few times in your career when you can look back and say, “That year changed everything.” For all of us at #Quaise Energy, 2026 will be one of those years, and here’s why. Superhot Geothermal ▪️Construction is underway at our pilot project in the western United States on the world’s first superhot #geothermal commercial power plant. ▪️Later this year, we’ll drill confirmation wells and run a flow test to validate superhot conditions at commercially relevant scales. ▪️We’ll introduce our first commercial #offtake agreement, demonstrating the strong market demand for superhot geothermal. Millimeter Wave Drilling ▪️In #Texas, we’re extending our field progress, going from 100 to 1,000 meters this year. That’s more than two Empire State Buildings deep. ▪️At our headquarters, we’re commissioning a 1‑megawatt gyrotron (10x as powerful as our current systems) to drill faster and larger boreholes on a commercial scale. ▪️Our team will continue to integrate, test, and harden the full millimeter wave #drilling system to prepare it for deployment at our first power project. Energy production and access to the Earth’s subsurface are foundational to modern civilization and global #energy security. With superhot geothermal, we unlock always-on, zero-carbon power at scale, near demand centers, and with a path to global deployment. Our brilliant team at Quaise Energy is transforming how we reach the heat of the #Earth and how we power the world in 2026, and far beyond: I encourage you to follow along. ERCOT has issued a Weather Watch from January 24-27 due to forecasted below-freezing temperatures with the possibility of frozen precipitation across the ERCOT region, higher electrical demand, and the potential for lower reserves. Grid conditions are expected to be normal during a Weather Watch and can be monitored on ercot.com. Read more: bit.ly/4r5pTOH. Sign up for #TXANS notifications: bit.ly/49AD0le
