#WARSH #TRUMP #FED #StrongDollar $SLV $GLD On the surface, nominating a known "inflation hawk" like Kevin Warsh seems to contradict President Trump’s vocal demands for aggressive rate cuts. However, the move is being viewed by market analysts as a calculated, multi-layered tactic. Here is a breakdown of why this nomination might actually align with the President's goals: 1. The "Credibility" Play President Trump has frequently criticized Jerome Powell for being "too slow" or "political." By nominating Warsh—a man with deep Wall Street roots (ex-Morgan Stanley) and a reputation for being an inflation hawk—the President is choosing someone the markets view as highly credible. The Tactic: A credible Fed Chair can cut rates without the market panicking about inflation. If a "dove" (someone who always wants low rates) cuts rates, the market might fear a currency collapse. If a "hawk" like Warsh cuts rates, the market believes it's because the data truly supports it, which keeps the dollar stable and bond yields in check. 2. Warsh’s Recent "Policy Shift" While Warsh was an "inflation hawk" a decade ago, he has recently pivoted. In early 2025 and late 2024, he argued that if the government focuses on deregulation and spending cuts, the Fed would have "room" to lower interest rates safely. The Tactic: Trump likely sees Warsh as an ally who will "coordinate" with the administration's fiscal goals. Warsh has suggested that the Fed should work more closely with the Treasury—a stance that traditionalists see as a threat to Fed independence, but that the President views as essential for his economic agenda. 3. The "Regime Change" Focus Warsh has been a vocal critic of what he calls "mission creep" at the Fed (focusing on climate change or social issues). The Tactic: Trump’s priority isn't just interest rates; it’s a total overhaul of the institution. Warsh has called for a "regime change" at the central bank. By nominating him, Trump ensures a Chair who will likely strip back the Fed’s non-monetary initiatives and focus strictly on the economy, which matches the administration's broader "deconstruction" of the federal bureaucracy. 4. "Central Casting" and Personal Loyalty The President often emphasizes that his appointees should "look the part." He has referred to Warsh as being from "central casting." The Tactic: Beyond policy, Warsh has strong personal ties to the President's inner circle (his father-in-law is Ronald Lauder, a long-time Trump confidant). Trump likely believes Warsh will be more "loyal" or at least more communicative with the White House than Powell was, satisfying the President's desire to have a "smart voice" that is listened to during Fed deliberations. The Market's Interpretation The reason gold and silver are falling today isn't because the market thinks Warsh will never cut rates; it’s because they believe he will restore the value of the dollar. Investors are betting that under Warsh, the U.S. will have a "strong dollar" policy and a more disciplined Fed, which removes the "fear factor" that usually drives people into precious metals.

Photronics $PLAB: "We are benefitting from meaningful reshoring of capacity to the United States" Exactly what I highlighted in my original $AMKR & $PLAB thesis in the clip below.
Stock Talk@stocktalkweekly

My thesis on $AMKR & $PLAB is relatively straightforward. They are both easy concessions to make in an attempt to reshore the semiconductor supply chain, with no real domestic peers. You can listen to my full thesis in this recording:
