Tresor was beautiful eventhough, I was disappointed by the sound. It didn't do justice for this amazing singer from Goma. The music is so incredible with so much depth.

This year at JOJ, I could not choose between Esperanza Spalding and Oumou Sangare, so I peeked in at CONGA for Oumou and luckily, Ms. Spalding started later than anticipated. My heart was full.

She mentioned Wayne Shorter. A sweet, amazing man who I encountered many years ago at the Cape Town Jazz Festival. He was on the line - up in that year with Bra Hugh. One could not choose but I ended up with Mr.Shorter.

Also, this year at JOJ, it was my 3rd time seeing Ms. Spalding. It had been a real Joy to witness and see her on stage, at home. This past Friday, I was in awe of the amount of love and joy I get from seeing her LIVE.

I started attending Joy of Jazz at 20 years old. This was more than 15 years ago. From Newtown days to Sandton. It was great to get my tickets, at the hotel next to the venue, take a breather and attend two amazing performances by Wynton Marsalis & Esperanza Spalding on Day 1.
