The Hawks officially have the No. 8 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
With names like Mikel Brown Jr., Kingston Flemings, Keaton Wagler and Aday Mara on the board…who are you taking for Atlanta? #TrueToAtlanta

6’10 Caleb Wilson looks insane in his NBA draft workout 🤯 His athleticism, Jumper, and shot creation is very impressive. Caleb is wants to prove he’s the best in this draft which gives franchise player vibes @CalebWilson2025 🎥 @JordanRichardSC

I will probably get some heat/hate for this but my absolute favorite target for the Atlanta Hawks in the 2026 NBA Draft is Hannes Steinbach.
Hannes Steinbach (6'11"/220 lbs, ~7'2" wingspan, age 20 on Draft night) is a high-floor German freshman center for Washington whose 2025-26 production (18.5 PPG on 57.7 FG%/60.2 eFG%, 11.8 RPG leading the nation with elite 18.7 ORB% and 20.0 TRB/100, 1.6 APG, 1.2 BPG, 1.1 SPG in 34.6 MPG) reflects advanced physical tools and basketball IQ: thunderous two-way rebounding instincts, coordinated footwork and balance for efficient interior finishing (1.175 PPP on drives), transition dominance (1.443 PPP, 75.6 eFG%), and P&R processing that leverages strong hands, core strength, and length for rim protection and second-chance creation. A Sabonis-lite/Moe Wagner archetype with superior rebounding pedigree and international pedigree, Steinbach’s older-for-class maturity, seamless college adjustment, and untapped perimeter growth (34% 3PT on low volume) give him the highest projected floor-to-ceiling trajectory in the class—immediate rotation anchor who can scale into an All-Star big through sustained efficiency, glass-crashing, and pace-and-space versatility that outpaces flashier but less polished peers.
Sure - Hannes is 20 but he also played international ball. Averaged 17.4 points, 13.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game at the World Cup. Led all scorers in the Gold Medal game against Team USA, dropping in 19 points. He also led Germany to the Silver Medal at the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup.
My position is the same as it was in 2024. I don’t care if we have the first overall draft pick - trade back, pick up additional draft/future draft capital, target Hannes with your first pick, and target Krivas, Ngongba, Veesaar, etc with the CAVs pick.
I legitimately like Hannes just as much as Caleb Wilson, Cameron Boozer, Etc. I don’t know that either of those guys are better than Steinbach.
