We show that multimode optical fibers can naturally implement recurrent neural networks through passive light propagation. Just light recirculating through a fiber loop, generating fading memory states via interference and nonlinear dynamics. 📄 arxiv.org/abs/2602.19246

By exciting higher-order or multimode superpositions, we uncover heavy-tailed statistics with bursts beyond the 8σ threshold. This opens a new degree of freedom for tailoring nonlinear instabilities on-chip platforms.
