@joekent16jan19 Joe you got it wrong here. The nuke thing is farce. Israel can wipe out any country in the world with their nuke. Israel is after complete destruction of Iran like Libya and Syria so there is no one in ME that can oppose their expansion.

It appears that the zero enrichment poison pill killed the Islamabad negotiations yesterday. We have 9 more days in this cease fire to fix this, but we must pursue our goals not Israel's. Trump's redline has always been no nuclear weapons for Iran, not zero enrichment. Iran agrees with this and has not sought to develop or obtain a nuke since 2003 but needs to retain the ability to enrich for their "not Saddam but not Qaddafi" policy to work. This makes negotiations between the U.S. & Iran workable as the dispute is on levels of enrichment and monitoring. This is a threat to Israel getting us to do the heavy lifting in the regime change/decapitation war they want. Israel needs us chasing every trace of uranium in Iran because that ensures we stay engaged militarily in Iran, because how do we ever fully make sure Iran can't enrich without taking out the regime? This is the recipe for an endless bloody war or supporting/turning a blind eye to Israel using a WMD on Iran. Restrain Israel, get a deal, open the SOH, focus on saving our Republic, not playing empire.

Trump just flipped the Strait narrative from open it to block it, turning it into an Iran versus the rest of world pressure test while oil flows still hold around 80% of normal. But the real constraint is structural: Iran cannot push Hormuz too far without hitting China’s red lines, since Beijing is the dominant buyer and can either enforce discipline or accelerate bypass routes like pipelines and overland corridors. That creates leverage, but it is asymmetric. If Iran overuses it, it loses it. Clever move by Trump, in my opinion!

@_A_khalifa Except for ballistic missile related condition, all other conditions are acceptable if they guarantee permanent ending of war and uplifting of sanctions. With their oil, gas and talented people, they can build their country competing big powers.

Iran has agreed to 11 out of the American conditions, and the remaining three are still under negotiation for the next two weeks: 1. A permanent commitment never to develop or possess nuclear weapons. 2. Handing over all its enriched uranium to the International Atomic Energy Agency. 3. Allowing the IAEA full access and monitoring of every part of its nuclear facilities. 4. Completely and permanently stopping uranium enrichment inside Iran. 5. Significantly reducing both the range and the number of its missiles. 6. Immediately cutting off all support to militias and proxy groups in the region. 7. Stopping all attacks on energy facilities in the Gulf. 8. Reopening the Strait of Hormuz immediately, with no conditions or delays. 9. Lifting all sanctions imposed on Iran. 10. Canceling the snapback mechanism for reimposing UN sanctions. 11. American support for the Bushehr nuclear power plant, but only under direct US supervision. !

In return Iran appears to have killed around 50 irrelevant Israelis and Americans. Even if you assume they are hiding many losses, it's likely not more than 100 or so irrelevants. In terms of the material damage there is a similar imbalance especially considering the place Iran started from given the decades of economic terror siege, and the closing of the Strait was at the point of beginning to inflict major damage. If you think this was enough to establish deterrence and prevent the war from being restarted again soon, just ask yourself the very simple question: Would any rational person not happily take that exchange ratio over and over and over again? You kill a few dozen pedophile rape-settlers, and in exchange I kill your Supreme leader and thousands of others? They will always take that exchange without a moment's hesitation.
