Thousands of commuters arrive every morning into Heuston Station. The 145 brought them directly to the South city centre office area & UCD. @TFIupdates more students are commuting now due to the housing crisis. An already lengthy commute has just got longer and more inconvenient.

This is not about opposing BusConnects or 24/7 routes, which we fully support. But the removal of this direct link is a material disimprovement, particularly for those commuting to UCD from Kildare, Carlow, Laois, Kilkenny, and beyond.

RTÉ chose to report on the cultural impact of the 46a ending but hasn’t covered the real, practical challenges caused by the loss of the 145 route. The 46a has suitable replacements, while this change leaves many without comparable options. @joeliveline @rtenews
