Over her career she discovered and categorized over 500 species of plants, getting to name a genus as well (Mexianthus mexicanus). Mexia's legacy continues to live on in the world of botany, with modern day botanists still using and studying her collections! (2/2)

This week we're showing the work of Ynés Mexia (1870-1938). Ynés was a Mexican-American botanist. Ynés began her studing botany at the age of 51! Ynés contributed greatly to field of botany and environmental conservatism. (1/2)
