It was a joy to join my friends @ValContessePhD and @HollyLanePhD in Gainesville this week. We shared how are @ProjectReadAI and @UFLiteracy are narrowly tailoring AI to specific use cases that truly support teachers with some of the thorniest challenges in phonics instruction: 1) spelling analysis, 2) small group planning and 3) increasing/individualizing student practice

Celebrating @ailiteracyday at UF reminded us of something important: the more advanced our technology gets, the more irreplaceable the human touch becomes. If we want these new tools to meaningfully improve education, human connection has to stay front and center.

Highly recommend UFLI Academy, which just started this year. @HollyLanePhD @ValContessePhD @burnsmk1 and whole UFLI team great at distilling complex ideas into digestible PD; all great communicators Sessions a mix of understanding relevant research + explicit modeling of practices in classroom Choose your track (intro to teaching ufli, coaching ufli, etc).

So proud of these Grade 2 students @StBrigidOCSB! ✏️ After learning about past tense “ed” verbs during @UFLiteracy, students wrote a short recount So exciting to see their hard work during UFLI transfer to their own independent writing! Look at that printing 🤩 #ocsb

95% of the Year 2 kindergarten students at our school are at or above benchmark on Acadience Middle of Year screening. If that isn’t an endorsement for explicit and systematic phonics instruction (we use @UFLiteracy) I don’t know what is.
