Congratulations to Sharon Hodgson who has been appointed Minister for Public Health and Prevention in the Department for Health and Social Care. Sharon's appointment comes at a critical time for those living with acquired brain injury (ABI) as the Government develops the promised ABI Action Plan due for publication by the end of June 2026.    Sharon's previous work with the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Acquired Brain Injury under Sir Chris Bryant's leadership and constituency work with Headway Wearside means she needs no introduction to the importance of raising awareness of acquired brain injury and the need for better access to support and care for people with acquired brain injury and their families and carers. We look forward to working with Sharon and hope to meet to discuss progress on the forthcoming ABI Action Plan soon.

🌼 Spring Fling 2026 🌼 On Friday we held a fabulous ‘Spring Fling’ with Thompsons Solicitors - an afternoon to raise awareness of UKABIF and funds to support our work. It’s was a day of networking, fun and delicious food, accompanied by daffodils, mini eggs and sunshine - a proper celebration of spring! The event was the brain child of Samantha Hemsley and we are so grateful to her, Helen Shakespeare and David Gauler for months of organisation and planning and to Verity Saber whose brilliant attention to detail made the event truly special. Thank you also to Victoria Kingscote for helping out on the day. Thanks also to those who hosted tables - IRWIN MITCHELL LLP Cygnet Health Recruiters AKA Case Management Empowering U Kings Chambers Secure Healthcare Solutions Frenkel Topping Group No5 Barristers’ Chambers SPEECH TOOLS LIMITED and their guests - we are very grateful for your generosity and support - and to compere supreme, Nick Hedley of Exchange Chambers, who kept the afternoon on track and the guests laughing. The event surpassed all our expectations and we are already planning next years - early booking is advised, as this one sold out before we’d had the chance launch! Our appreciation to Exchange Chambers Deka Chambers and Old Square Chambers for sponsoring the event. #SpringFling #UKABIF #ABI

UKABIF were sorry to learn of Ashley Dalton’s decision to step down from her ministerial role yesterday.  Ashley has been an inspirational champion for people affected by acquired brain injury — most notably through her leadership in progressing the forthcoming Acquired Brain Injury Action Plan.  Her commitment has given great hope to the brain injury community and represents a significant step towards improving long-term outcomes for those experiencing brain injury and their families. We thank Ashley and wish her well in her parliamentary role and beyond. Our work on the Action Plan will continue as planned and we look forward to connecting with the new minister when they are appointed
