a very long summary of my stance on what happened in the community - final chapter, let's all move on after this (1) about @eaJPark - Jae isn't queerphobic. this has been proven in the past, there is video evidence. while the word choices in his most recent tweets, in my opinion, have not been the best and appeared to be neutral and bothsideist, and while I personally have questioned the inconsistencies between the church's teachings and his own stance on the matter, I 100% believe he is NOT queerphobic. - the tweets last Sunday and the reply to one Jar (JD) didn't have to happen. it's red herring, it's a fallacy, and I believe it has weakened his overall argument about the whole issue. - whether or not he responds to this tweet or anyone's tweets, whether or not he chooses to explain further is up to him. it's his freedom. we, as fans, cannot force anything to happen. - whether or not he chooses to move forward with the donation or not is up to him. it's his freedom. we, as fans, cannot force anything to happen. - Jae is 100% entitled to talking about DAY6 whenever and wherever he wants. it's his freedom to do so. track records show that he has nothing but goodwill towards DAY6 in the past and in the now. - Jae has apologized to Jamie and and her parents. Jamie has accepted his apology. (2) about me: - I've been a fan since 2015 - I am queer (unlabeled any further), and I am quite radical when it comes to condemning Israel and supporting Palestine. I believe killings are wrong no matter what, and I want to support the Palestinian civilians the most, as they suffer the most. I will question people's silence towards Palestine and the genocide. - I was likely the first one who raised the questions about the church's stance about both homosexuals / queers and Israel-Palestine. - after coming across more evidence of church's teachings (e.g., the videos on anti-gay and the nation of Israel), I could only understand that the teachings were very scripture-based, so I engaged the help of several people who are well-versed in the Bible and who are Christians with interpretation. after talking to them, I agree that it would be a stretch to consider it a Zionist church - but it is not a pro-Palestine church given the continuous silence towards Palestine and Palestinian Christians. it also shows that while the church welcomes homosexuals to a certain extent, it still does not accept homosexual behaviors - and that, to me, is tolerance and not acceptance, and that it could still have harmful impact on the queer community. - I unfollowed him because I was genuinely hurt reading his tweet last Sunday. it felt unfair, unnecessary, and it made me question my existence in the fandom and whether my good intent / goodwill has been really communicated and understood well enough. this is my own choice and my own way to cope - it doesn't disprove the points I have presented above (and below) - I acknowledged that he apologized for that tweet. what I choose to do with that apology is up to me. - I have learned about fallacies in argumentation, and I realize that fallacies will make a conversation / discussion totally nonconstructive. I don't want that for me, I don't want that for anyone, and I will call that out. if anyone continues arguing with fallacies, I will not engage any further. - I value evidence. for every decision I make, I try to be as evidence-informed as possible. so I am 100% comfortable with learning more about new evidence and changing my views. - I hate situations that are not clear or transparent. so this may explain why I was relentless in asking for (1) evidence of the church not being queerphobic and (2) Jae's criticism of the specific wrongdoings that are happening right now within the community, while understanding that whether Jae chooses to respond or not is up to him. I do realize that my tweets could come off very pushy, and very uncomfortable for Jae. - freedom is such a big value of mine. this is relevant to some of the points that I will make below. - lying is wrong. this is also relevant to the points that I will make below. (3) about Jars: - Jars, in my opinion, are a group of eaJ's fans with varying degrees of support to eaJ. they may be ones that talk about eaJ on their social media accounts, or they may support silently. what they choose to do in terms of supporting eaJ is up to them. - whatever Jars choose to do isn't Jae's fault. Jars are separate human beings and responsible for their own actions. it doesn't make sense to equate their responsibilities with Jae's. - because Jae is a public figure with influence, in this situation when everything is not 100% communicated transparently and weakened by the two tweets from Jae that I mentioned above, it definitely has pushed people to take sides and the ugliness from some Jars creep out as a result. - I can see that some Jars right now are openly queerphobic. this is wrong. - I can see that some Jars right now are racist. this is wrong. - I can see that some Jars right now are disrespecting others' rights to practice religions. while you may disagree with the teachings or the religions themselves for so many reasons, it is still others' freedom to practice religions, and disrespecting such right is wrong. - I can see that some Jars right now are attacking each other personally and attacking Jae with baseless claims. this is ad hominem, this is lying, and this is wrong. - I can see some snark from Jars. in my opinion, this doesn't help the situation. - regardless of my criticism above about some of the tweets that I've seen from Jars, I will never force you to do anything, because it is your freedom of expression. but freedom of expression doesn't mean freedom from consequences, so don't expect me to shut up if I have any criticisms. (4) about non-Jars: - I believe everyone can express their opinions on the issue, regardless of whether they are Jars or not. freedom of expression should be applied across the board. - I can see that some people are taking advantage of this issue to criticize Jae again about his past behaviors. if it is about DAY6 and Jamie, please read what I wrote above. if you still cannot accept that Jae has goodwill towards DAY6, that Jamie has accepted Jae's apology, and that learning and growth is possible, your reaction is out of my control, but just don't lie about the facts. - I can see that some people are having their gotcha moments, knowing about this. I encourage you to look beyond the surface and look at Jae's changes throughout all these times, but whatever you choose to do with this information is up to you. - Koreaboo sucks, and is a disgrace to journalism - that is my opinion. (5) last words: - I don't know whether I will follow Jae again. I need to work through my feelings first. - I hope Jars remain a safe community and we can finally weed out the toxicity and wrongdoings. - I hope everyone will just take a breather and really reflect deeply on what they have done right or wrong. - this is my closure to the whole thing - I hope I can move on and I hope you will too. - I will unsubscribe from Premium immediately, because I really don't want to spend money on this platform. but things like this need to be written and read without interruption.
